Day-3: When in Yogya [part-2: walking around the town] 🧦

Wednesday, 19th Feb 2020, drizzling afternoon!!

Thankfully the rain subsided just after we had our lunch! ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡

We were not planning to stay late today, because we had so many walks and we had to catch a train back to our hometown tomorrow at 7AM. So we did the afternoon Wednesday in slower pace.

But before that, here’s a picture of me enjoying my chewy-vanilla toast I loved it SO much! I had the same toast for 2 nights in a row!! (/▽\*)。o○♡

Day-3: When in Yogya [part-1: walking around the town] 👣

Wednesday, 19th Feb 2020, very hot morning!!

After having a gloomy day on Tuesday, we got a suuuuper hot day this morning! And with that, we can follow our itinerary as planned! ヽ( ⌒o⌒)人(⌒-⌒ )ノ

We were still twinning out with our hats. And yes that was the batik I bought yesterday! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

We had about 12 stops today, so I have to separate them into 2 parts, like yesterday. Cyn agreed with the route I proposed. Our first stop was Taman Sari Water Castle. We called grab to pick us up before 9 in the morning.

Located near the Keraton, this place was also known as the garden for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. Tamansari was originally built for multiple purposes yet now only several buildings remain. Some of its original functions were a place to rest, to meditate, to work, to hide and to defend the Sultan’s family.

Day-2: When in Yogya [part-2: City Tour in The Afternoon] ☔

Day-2: When in Yogya [part-2: City Tour in The Afternoon] ☔

Tuesday afternoon, 18th Feb 2020, cloudy and rainy.

We are now heading to Prambanan Temple,  which is about 1 hour away from the previous castle. Same as the previous temple we visited, I’m sure there are price difference between local tourists and international tourist. We did buy the combined ticket back in the first temple. So here me and Cyn just walked our way through the non-queuing ticket counter. Yes, the temple wasn’t so busy, probably because we visited during daytime and was not in any holiday. There were few students having a study tour, a group of Korean tourists, two Japanese ladies and us. (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ

Did you know, this temple is the largest Hindu temple of ancient Java, and the first building was completed in the mid-9th century. It was likely started by Rakai Pikatan as the Hindu Sanjaya Dynasty’s answer to the Buddhist Sailendra Dynasty’s Borobudur and Sewu temples nearby. Historians suggest that the construction of Prambanan probably was meant to mark the return of the Hindu Sanjaya Dynasty to power in Central Java after almost a century of Buddhist Sailendra Dynasty domination. ヽ(・ω・)ノ

Day-2: When in Yogya [part-1: City Tour in The Morning] 🌞

Day-2: When in Yogya [part-1: City Tour in The Morning] 🌞

Tuesday morning, 18th Feb 2020, sunny.

Our driver picked us up from our hotel and drove for about an hour to Borobudur Temple. We arrived at the parking lot at 8AM, and cheerfully headed to the temple. We walked slowly, found some photo spot and took our time to get to the temple. \(^∀^)メ(^∀^)ノ

We were lucky the temple was not crowded when we arrived. There were maybe less than 20 tourist including one Japanese group, less than 5 worshippers, and us.

FYI, 1 adult ticket is IDR 40,000. But if you buy combined ticket (Borobudur + Prambanan) or (Borobudur + Ratu Boko) it will cost you IDR 75,000 – cheaper! We bought the first combined ticket because we know we don’t have enough time to visit Ratu Boko anyway, so we gave it a miss.

Day-1: When in Yogya [it was all started when…] 🚞

Day-1: When in Yogya [it was all started when…] 🚞

…… I had extra 5 weeks off after I left my previous job in mid Jan, and before my new job started in March. I initially just wanted to have one week back to my hometown to check out my parents then head back to Singapore to be a homebound tourist (everything is expensive in Singapore especially if you’re jobless!). But thanks to the virus I was stuck in my home land for more than 4 weeks! (⇀‸↼‶)

What did I do during my holiday? Oh I really wished I could hopped on to trans-siberian train for a week or two, stayed for another two weeks in Москва and St. Petersburg, learned Cyrillic Alphabet, but instead I was too afraid of being in an airport with strangers I wouldn’t know where they’re coming from – or maybe I’m just getting old and those non-sense anxiety started to hit my reality?

But really. What did I do during my holiday! I learned to cook few Indonesian and Thai dishes, chocolate pound cake and a failed loaf, hung out with a handful of friends (I’m quite picky in choosing friendship because not all deserves my time and attention – no I’m not gonna describe it any longer here), went shopping with my parents, watched Japanese tv series, and last but took most of my time was playing The Sims and blogged about it. (*¯︶¯*)

So that Thursday afternoon, I had this impromptu thoughts of getting out from my hometown and explore another city, like Yogyakarta, for example. And luckily I had a friend who said yes to that! ヽ(≧◡≦)八(o^ ^o)ノ

Day-4: When in BALI [Kuta] 🏖👙

Day-4: When in BALI [Kuta] 🏖👙

Sunday, 20th May 2018, very hotttt!

My Mercure hotel offers breakfast from 6AM to 11AM on Sunday! How cool is that! I could wake up late and still enjoying my brunch! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

The dining area was facing the pool (on the 4th floor) and the pool was facing the Kuta Beach. And yes, Kuta Beach was just across the street! This was a highly recommended hotel, located nearby Poppies Lane (shopping street where you can haggle and shop, and get cheap tattoos) and walking distance to Beachwalk Shopping Centre (a high-end shopping mall in Kuta, with a lot of famous local restaurants including the famous roast duck, Bebek Tepi Sawah). ♡ ~(‘▽^人)

Day-3: When in BALI [from higher than the trees 🌴 to lower than the sea 🌊]

Day-3: When in BALI [from higher than the trees 🌴 to lower than the sea 🌊]

Saturday, 19th May 2018. Drizzling and stop. Drizzling then hot.

Since I need to move around 3 cities today, I decided to booked a car including with the driver, from BaliSanti. I asked around some people to check the price for booking a car+driver for 10 hours, and it wasn’t cheap. The price range between IDR600k to IDR800k. Then I found this BaliSanti webste from Google, and read some good reviews before I decided to contact them via whatsapp and finally paid for IDR480k. The driver name was Bli Alit. He was a patient driver, he drove me around from Ubud to Sanur to Kuta, without any complaints, without trying to sell me to stop and buy something, he even offered to take pictures for me if I needed to. ╰(▔∀▔)╯

But before I’m off for my adventure, I must fill the engine from Alila’s restaurant. And of course, took some selfies too. (☆ω☆)

me taking the swing of my life!!!

Day-2: When in BALI [Ubud Alila] 🌄

Day-2: When in BALI [Ubud Alila] 🌄

Friday, 18th May 2018, morning.

Today was only cloudy, but no rain at all. Which is good for my best friend’s wedding! ( ´ ▽ ` )

My homestay called HAPPY INN, located just next to Ubud Market. I will recommend this place to friends & family. It was only SGD24 a night, it came with a tasty omelette for breakfast, clean room, wifi, beautiful architecture Balinese house, and a very cute yet naughty host called Ruben. (´♡‿♡`)

I had few hours (from this morning until 11AM) before my friend Sil and the gank picked me up to Alila, the wedding venue of Mar & Rob. So let’s explore some more around the homestay! ヽ(o^▽^o)ノ

Ruben the cute host, kept me company while waiting for my pick up.

Day-1: When in BALI [Ubud Central] 🛍

Day-1: When in BALI [Ubud Central] 🛍

Wednesday, 16th May 2018, midnight.

Touched down Ngurah Rain Bali International Airport around 11:45PM, I immediately went up to the second floor to get a blue bird taxi (the safest taxi in Indonesia). I heard from my friend it would be not easy to get a grab in both Jakarta and Bali airports as they have conflicts going on between online taxi and the locals. By the time I arrived at the second floor, I got caught by 3 mens offered me a ride to my hotel. They are local taxis, the one that could be intimidating and very pushy and will get in trouble with online taxi. As I travelled solo, I had no choice other than follow one of the 3 mens, and got into their taxi to my hotel. He charged me for IDR50k, while grab only IDR 15k. (;⌣̀_⌣́)

I stayed at this hotel called Solaris. A transit hotel 5 minutes ride from the airport where I could stay only for 8 hours and paid only around SGD20. It was reasonable price as I had to make a move early morning and I only need exactly 8 hours. They upgraded my room and gave me a nice welcome drinks. Just nice.  (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

Thursday, 17th May 2018. Early morning!

Booked a grab from Solaris (Kuta) to my homestay in Ubud. Last time I checked was IDR 132k, but that morning I paid IDR154. Which is not bad, consider moving to another city and it took us for almost 2 hr. The homestay was not easy to find, but we finally did with a help from Google Map. Oh hail technology!!! ╰(▔∀▔)╯

Arrived Ubud around 10AM, checked in then I started to walk around the hotel. It was still too early for my appointment, too early for my lobster brunch, and was drizzling too. I decided to stop at some cafe nearby the Ubud Market and had my late breakfast; banana tropical smoothie. The rain stopped in 15 minutes and I went off to my first appointment of the day. ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶

my tea breaks at The Pond.

KTM Resort Review – BATAM! ⛵

KTM Resort Review – BATAM! ⛵

This is supposed to be my weekend getaway story. But since I spent most of my time at this resort, so I might give review to this resort instead. So out of 5 frogs, I give this resort 4 frogs!!! 🐸🐸🐸🐸

Why didn’t I give 5 frogs? The last frog is for their improvement! Water sport are not always available (depends on the wind, quite pricey and have minimum persons to go). Very far from anywhere (although they have shuttle to Nagoya). Spa service as expensive as in SG (I wish they have cold tub instead of hot tub!).  Fishing deck only for squid–I want fish fishing, not squid-ding?!! ☆o(><;)○
